We love fine craft …

Jean-Pierre Romiguier likes to say:

"….I simply convey and rediscover objects” …many from the threat of oblivion.

Out of this quest the traditional shepherd’s satchel, still carried today by the transhumant shepherds of the Cévennes, has given the company it’s name, “Le Sac du Berger”, and become it’s flagship.

All products are crafted using traditional methods and many reflect in their appearance their medieval origins: Satchels, sandals, pouches, elf-like boots and shoes, woollen capes.

Today, as yesterday, Le Sac du Berger continues to adhere to the principles of authenticity and fine craftsmanship... Each artisan of the six leather crafts makes his or her product from start to finish and each product ~ regardless of size or price ~ reflects the same rigorous requirements of beauty, quality and attention to detail.

Text Box: Le Sac du Berger leather beautifies with use. Variations in shades, marks and small imperfections just add character and highlight it’s uniqueness. Le viaduc de Millau

Le Sac du Berger Leather

All  "Le Sac du Berger" leather goods are made of full grain calf skin, deep-dyed in aniline and waterproofed in the bath. The skins are treated in the most natural way, respecting the environment.

Leather care instructions:

You should clean and nourish your leather at least once a year with these artisanally made products:

  • Natural glycerine soap (paste) $ 9.00
  • Leather cream $15.00
  • To clean: Put some of the soap on a humid sponge and rub the leather gently. Rinse slightly. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours in the shade away from any heat source
  • To nourish: Apply a thin layer of the cream on a sponge and rub until the cream has penetrated the leather.
